I have been reading a number of comments on this page and have read a few
that say this site is encouraging students to be rude and unfair to their
teachers. all I would have to say to them is that not only are they been
rude enough to suggest that students these days are incapable of making
honest and fair judgements of their teachers, but that they are also being
very ignorant; if a teacher is a good teacher there should be little need
for a pupil to slate them. On the homepage for my school I have read a
number of comments, most of which I would agree with. It is rude and
ignorant to suggest that all teenagers and users of this website cannot
make fair and well thought out comments and ratings of their teachers
because they may have biased feelings towards them.

I am a teacher and have felt quite demoralised and upset by comments made
about me on this site. I invest a lot of time and energy into my job and
always strive to do the best for the students in my care. I frequently
encourage students to give me constructive feedback on my teaching and if
it is helpful will act upon it. In contrast the feedback on your site
seems completely unconstructive. Your site provides students with an
anonymous forum to bitch about their teachers: Is this really an attitude
we should be encouraging in young people?
Do you realise that most teachers go well beyond what they are paid to do
in order to enrich students’ education? Parents and students rarely
acknowledge this fact. This doesn't bother me because I don't do my job
for recognition. However, when I am slagged off behind my back I feel much
less motivated!
Don't you think that teachers are under enough scrutiny? We are already
accountable to students (those of us who are open to hearing their views),
parents, colleagues, members of the senior leadership and OFSTED. We are
judged on the basis of our students’ performance and the basis of our own
performance.
I was never was never asked whether I would like to receive feedback in a
public forum. Don't you realise that potential employers can access this
data and it only takes a few students who have a grudge to make an
excellent teacher seem terrible?
This site is potentially inaccurate and it is completely unnecessary,
unhelpful, unethical and inappropriate!

Where is the Rate my Student Section? Why don't you at least request the
students -OR ANYONE WHO VISITS THE SITE- to provide some personal
information BEFORE voting?
This means that ANYONE can vote ANY number of times, thus making all the
data on your site just about worthless!

I have been watching this website the past year or so, and I have to say,
it's fantastic.
For ages I had been wondering where I could comment over my teachers'
abilities to teach a subject. When I came across complaints about it in
newspapers, I decided to check it out, completely outraged at what I had
"heard". But when I checked it out myself, looked around my school's
page.. I found out it was a great idea.
There are some comments out there that aren't constructive critism ..
that's no excuse to say it's the same for the whole website.. it gives
pupils a chance to voice their opinions anonymously. When you comment and
your name is down, you can feel embarrassed, especially when the teacher
confronts you and asks you why this is.
I have had many encounters of teachers. Teachers whom have commented on my
personal apperance saying I looked like a "hooker" with a necklace on. One
that said my skirt was too short and I was going to turn out to be a
"prostitute". A teacher that constantly taunted people in class- and
another useless maths teacher who never bothered teaching us correctly.
RMT gave me a chance to voice my experiences and relieve my anger. I made
the mistake last year of voicing them on a Piczo site and got into trouble
for it.
RMT gave me hope, that perhaps, someone will see my anonymous complaint
and take action.
I have nothing but praise for this site. Stop dissing it because of
tabloids and a few catty comments. Look at it from a pupil's perspective.

to be honest the only real reason why adults and especially teachers hate
this site because this is one of the only ways to talk about your teacher
and they can't stand the truth coming out without punishing you. teachers
can discuss their pupils but now the tide is turning. its true there are
some amazing teachers out there but you'll be lucky to find one and good
teachers are complimented but most of the time they're undedicated and
only there to pick up the pay cheque abd lever you through the exams. face
up teachers you'll be exposed

This is a great website. But what a pity you don't use it as a positive
vehicle for improvement of schools by praising those working their arse
off to teach YOUR kids.
many teachers make huge personal sacrifice to help those students who have
parents who don't have a clue about education. WHY pick on teachers for
public ridicule..lets grow up a bit shall we.......

I love this website - because it shows us all the truth. The finest schools
are the comprehensives in smaller towns in Scotland, Wales, Northern
Ireland and England, not the exclusive 'posh' schools for the scions of
the wealthy.
Both my kids attend a local comp in a small mining town in Scotland, my
oldest has just gained a place at one of the finest Universities in
Scotland, the youngest has a learning disability and is completely
included in mainstream classroom activities. Overall the school scores 4.2
- one of the best results in the UK. I think this tells us a lot about
society and what consitutes real quality in education: the school
inspectors would be wise to reference the site before coming to any
judgements. Maybe the best school inspectors are the children themselves.

I was just reading the user comments and right at the top I saw a comment
from a rather...well how else can I say it but buffoon!
This user was saying that RMT is all about income and advertising and that
it doenst contribute to education or help parents puils or teachers.
Well I understand that there are adverts on the site and that you can
generate quite a bit of income! BUT if you have any sense you would know
that websites cost money to host, and to run, now if the user thought
about how much this website is used the advertising would just about pay
for it being hosted and run! No real profit is made in my eyes and I am
not being biased because I love the site.
I think this website is rather useful and yes people can be rather harsh
but that is why we have moderators to make sure things run smoothly and
the staff here genuinely want students to have a voice about their
education and their teachers! I am in contact with many of the admin and
mods and no one here is runnign this website to make a profit and to trick
kids and students into coming here so that they can receive a big fat
cheque through the post!

I am absolutely baffled by your claims that this site is seeking to provide
a service to education.
It does not. Your sole purpose in life is to generate advertising income,
and as such you're calling on predominantly pupils to provide content and
traffic to your site and boost your advertising income potential.
It does not serve the teaching community, nor does it provide a useful
service to parents or pupils.
You are also openly defiant of the spirit of privacy legislation.
